Welcome to the Vision Hall

The testimonies you will read are but a few examples of the countless miracles God has done in our midst since our first worship service at the basement of Tandem Cinema in June 1984.

Whether you have been with us since the beginning or just in the last few months, you are a part of this 40 year old story which continues to be written today and in the decades to come. His faithfulness endures through all generations.

As you read the testimonies, may you see the hand of God and your own story through it all.

And the Lord answered me:

“Write the vision make it plain on tablets,
so he may run who reads it.

Concrete Cathedrals

Inspired by Pastor Robert Schuller’s extravagantly beautiful and obscenely expensive Crystal Cathedral in Southern California, we unofficially christened our Recto basement with its ugly gray concrete floors, concrete walls, and concrete ceiling, the Concrete Cathedral.

The prophet Zechariah challenged God’s people not to “despise the day of small beginnings” (Zechariah 4:10, NLT). As we look back 40 years and remember Victory’s first church sanctuary— the nasty, stinky Tandem basement—may we remember with gratefulness and humility. And when the inevitable comparison with our current or future facilities happen, may we not become proud or entitled.

I would rather have a not-so-great building, even a hot, dark, foul-smelling basement with the presence of God than a perfectly decorated modern air-conditioned building without His presence.
